Overview
-
Best Known For: Rare wildlife species and authentic cultural experiences.
-
Description: Located in northern Kenya, Samburu National Reserve is an arid but wildlife-rich area along the Ewaso Nyiro River. It is home to unique species found only in this region, including the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx, and gerenuk (a long-necked antelope that stands on its hind legs to reach high branches).
Samburu also offers an opportunity to interact with the semi-nomadic Samburu people, who share a similar culture with the Maasai. Visitors can learn about their traditional way of life, including their beadwork, dances, and ceremonies.
